The First Station, Jesus at prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, is found in St. Mary of the Assumption Church on White Pine Canyon Road in Park City. The Stations of the Cross that grace the interior of St. Mary of the Assumption are hand-carved triptychs in the motifs of Polish primitive art. They offer both a Lenten journey into the passion of Jesus and the Easter journey of the followers of Christ. The central and side panels on the interior carvings of each station depict the central moments of the passion of Jesus as found in the four gospels. These prayer moments invite the Christian to ponder the mystery of Jesus’ Passion according to Mark. The panels indicated, and the order of the stations, allow you to read Mark’s full account and prayerfully ponder his insights.
