Vocation: Priesthood - New Seminarian Jaime Zuazo + Enlarge
New Seminarian: Jaime Zuazo
By Special to the Intermountain Catholic

I started to think about a priesthood vocation about nine years ago, after attending a spiritual family retreat and experiencing the tender love of God through prayer, praise and worship.

After my experience in the retreat, I developed a profound interest in learning more about God and the Catholic Church, and began to question what to do with my life. I started to be involved in my home parish, Saints Peter and Paul in Salt Lake City. I was serving in the prayer group, serving in the daily morning Masses and teaching Confirmation preparation classes. I had the privilege of being part of the first diocesan Emmaus program, a formation program to become lay ecclesial ministers.

Doing ministry became very important in my life. I discovered joy and spiritual growth by being an instrument for people to know more about God. The desire to pursue a vocation to the priesthood was always present in my mind, and with the help and support of many special people I was able to take time to discern my vocation. After long years of waiting, learning and spiritual growth, God opened the doors for me to start seminary life, and it was worth the wait.
