Catholic Community Services of Utah has various volunteer opportunities, from helping serve or prepare meals at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall to coordinating food drives. For information about opportunities in the Salt Lake area, visit https://ccsutah.org/volunteer#refugee-resettlement or call 801-428-1155.

Administration

Office help is needed in all programs during business hours.

Advocate

Support legislation that affirms the rights of all people to live a fulfilling life, regardless of race, religion or personal circumstances.

Donate

CCS is always in need of non-perishable food items, hygiene kits, house-cleaning products, furniture and household items, and new clothing for men, women and youth. Monetary donations and gift cards are also welcome. For a list of items for specific programs, visit https://ccsutah.org/images/Donation_Lists/Agency_Donation_Drive_List_12.29.2016.docx.pdf

Homeless Services

Help prepare or serve meals at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall. Volunteers are needed weekdays from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 2-6:30 p.m. A minimum commitment of two hours is requested.

Assist clients with program opportunities and information at the Weigand Homeless Resource Center, or teach basic computer skills such as setting up email accounts, making job searches and how to apply on line.

Maintenance

Maintenance of all building grounds including snow removal and lawn care.

Refugee Resettlement

All new volunteers are asked to attend the Refugee Resettlement Orientation to learn more about refugees, the process of their journey and the services received through CCS. Orientations are presented the second Thursday of every month at 5:45 pm at the Refugee Office on 745 East 300 South, SLC. Opportunities include mentoring a refugee family, teaching English to refugees, and tutoring school-age refugee children.

CCS Northern Utah

At the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank, help stock shelves, organize and sort food, assist with client intake, volunteer as a driver to take food to the elderly or shut-ins, or pick up food from grocery stores. The Bridging the Gap program’s mobile pantry distributes food to low-income elementary school students. For the St. Martha’s Baby Project, organize the storage room, help deliver the layettes or create blankets. Contact volunteers@ccsutah.org, visit https://www.ccsnorthernutah.org/volunteer or call 801-394-5944.
