Nationwide, cemeteries were filled Monday, May 28 with visitors observing the Memorial Day holiday by visiting the graves of veterans and those who died in battle. In Salt Lake City, several hundred people joined Bishop John Wester of the Diocese of Salt Lake City as he offered Mass in memory of the dead at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. "It’s impossible to ever capture or imagine what it was like for the brave men and women who died for our freedoms, who left home and fulfilled their duty so that we might have freedom. What we do today is to pray for them, to honor them, and to ask God to bless them," he said. "You and I are polishing this table, this altar, this monument in remembrance of our loved ones and our unique, ongoing relationships with them, and in remembrance of the one who invites us to himself when he says, ‘Do this in remembrance of me.’"
