Year of Hope Special Pilgrimage — Wednesday-Thursday, Oct. 8-9 at the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 5714 E. Holladay Blvd., Holladay, in celebration of the Jubilee of Consecrated Life. Mass on both days will be at 6:30 p.m. with Confession available 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Recital by Nathaniel Gumbs, director of music at The Riverside Church, New York City, featuring works by Mendelssohn, Franck and Haywood. Free; all are welcome. All Souls Day — Opening processions at all Masses Saturday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 2 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 1800 S. Orchard Dr., Bountiful. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite saint. Everyone is welcome to bring a framed picture of deceased family members.

Several pro-life organizations are sponsoring an essay contest for elementary, middle school and high school students. Students are invited to write a 500-word essay based on one of two provided prompts and submit their entry by Nov. 7. CCS’ Basic Needs Salt Lake is in need of winter weather donations to support clients experiencing homelessness as temperatures drop. Donation needs include coats, pants, men’s clothing, blankets, scarves, gloves, socks, sweatshirts and more to keep clients warm. Donations can be made weekdays 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. at 437 West 200 South, SLC.
