DRAPER — The most unmistakable laugh on the Juan Diego Catholic High School campus belongs to Father Dennis Ruane. Faculty and students alike cannot help but smile whenever Fr. Ruane begins to giggle. It’s a contagious laugh that can be heard in the hallways and even at Mass.

In his Apostolic letter announcing the Year of Faith, Porta Fidei, Pope Benedict XVI states, "by their very existence in the world, Christians are called to radiate the word of truth that the Lord Jesus has left us." Pope Benedict encourages Catholics to study their faith, deepen their Eucharistic experience, and live out the faith fearlessly. He reminds us that our faith is not for Sunday only, but must be "professed, celebrated, lived and prayed."

WASHINGTON (USCCB) —To honor the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI has announced a Year of Faith. It began Oct. 11, ends Nov. 24, 2013, and is meant to strengthen the faith of Catholics and draw the world to faith by their example.
