SALT LAKE CITY – "Es un hecho muy desafortunado que las gentes en ambos lados del Referendo 1 ("The Parent Choice in Education Act") estén llegando a tales extremos, dijo el Obispo Wester de la Diócesis de Salt Lake City en una entrevista con el Intermountain Catholic el 18 de octubre pasado. SANDY — We awoke in the early hours of the morning. As we pulled into the parking lot of Blessed Sacrament School, we were instantly awake and ready to go. As we boarded the bus, our teacher, Mrs. Oritt, checked off our names. Everybody struggled for the seats in the back of the bus, and we all settled down. Right away we put on a movie and turned on iPods. Fifteen minutes later, we pulled out of the parking lot and the bus driver pulled over halfway down the street. The hot lunches were forgotten on the sidewalk, and parents chased down the bus trying to give us the cooler.

SALT LAKE CITY — The lobby of the west building of the Utah State Capitol was packed with journalists, legislators, and lobbyists Oct. 17. Leaders of the pro-private school voucher forces spoke in a press conference about why they hope Utahns will vote for Referendum One, House Bill 148, which will provide education vouchers for students to apply to tuition in private schools, sectarian or secular.
