Several spiritual and musical activities have been planned throughout the Diocese of Salt Lake City during Advent, which begins Nov. 30 :
• Nov. 22 – Advent retreat at St. Mary Parish in West Haven, 9 a.m.  (See St. Mary Parish plans Advent retreat for Nov. 22.))
• Nov. 30 – Advent Vespers Procession with the Choir of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 5 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. Music of Palestrina, Ord and Manz will be performed. Free and open to the public. 
• Dec. 6 – The Diocese of Salt Lake City Advent Retreat at Saint John the Baptist Parish in Draper. Father Christopher Gray will be the retreat leader. The English session is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon; the Spanish session will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost: $5 by Dec. 2; $8 at the door. • Dec. 17-18 – Christmas Carol Service with the Choir of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 8 p.m. in the Cathedral. Free and open to the public.
• Dec. 19-20 – Salt Lake Choral Artists’ Christmas concert “O Magnum Mysterium,” 7:30 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Parish, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City. Cost: $20; $10 with student ID. 
• Dec. 21  –  Service of Lessons and Carols, featuring the Choir of St. Ambrose and the Roper Memorial Pipe Organ, 6:30 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Parish, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City. From 6 to 6:30 p.m. the Boy Scouts will serve hot cocoa and cider. Free and open to the public.
• Dec. 22-23 – A Ceremony of Carols, with the Choir of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 12:15 p.m. in the Cathedral, Free and open to the public.
• Dec. 24 – Christmas Carol Service with the Choir of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 4 p.m. in the Cathedral. Free and open to the public.
