Alexander M. Rivas

Alexander M. Rivas died unexpectedly on May 14 from medical complications. He was born May 22, 1985 to Joanne St. Jeor and Jesus (Jess) Rivas.

Alex was a Salt Lake City native but spent many years in Seattle and southern California. Most recently, he spent time living in Salt Lake City and Long Beach, Calif. Alex had a great love for movies, rock music, reading, and building models. He especially loved scary movies and watched all of them. Sadly, Alex suffered greatly from crippling rheumatoid arthritis and other serious medical complications, struggling greatly with his illnesses.

We will miss his boyish charm, sense of humor, conversation, general eccentricities and affection for everyone he knew.

He is survived by his father, brother Tommy, niece Ava, girlfriend Erin Anderson, and family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and dog Tibbie.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Ann’s.
