Amanda Rose Ann Ernst

ogden — Amanda Rose Ann Ernst, 87, passed away June 22, 2011 in Ogden.

Ernst was born April 24, 1924 in The Bronx, N.Y. to Edmund C. and Margaret Frawley Ernst. She was the youngest of six children, two of whom died in infancy. Never married, Ernst worked – among other jobs — at the Newsreel Division of Universal Pictures in New York City and at the United States National Archives in Washington D.C. She retired from the Archives in December 1992.

In her lifetime, she volunteered at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Bronx, N.Y.; Saint Jude Catholic Church in upper Manhattan, N.Y.; at Ft. Myer Memorial Chapel at Fort Myer Army Post in Arlington, Va.; at Christ House in Alexandria, Va.; and Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Community at Hill AFB in Utah. In her earlier years, she was a member of the New York Nautical Cadets, Catholic Sea Cadets of America and CYO Sea Cadets in New York, where she was involved in working with the youth.

Ernst was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Madeline Ernst (Walter H.) Wilkins, Edward C. Ernst, Jacob J. "Jack" Ernst, Julius J. Ernst and Charlotte Ernst.

Ernst is survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine (Jack) Ernst, and three generations of nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was held at Christ Prince of Peace Parish, Hill Air Force Base Chapel.
