A Ceremony of Carols — Monday, Dec. 23, 12:15 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Presented by the Cathedral Choristers.

St. Vincent de Paul New Year’s Eve Party — Tuesday, Dec. 31, 6:15 p.m. at Holy Family Hall, 1375 Spring Lane, SLC. Dinner: choice of prime rib or salmon, live music, dancing and child care provided. Cost $30/person; $50/couple; $200 for table of 8. For reservations call 801-272-9216.

New Years Eve Party — Tuesday, Dec. 31, 8 p.m. at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, 7405 Redwood Road, West Jordan. Ring in the church’s 50th anniversary with a dance and appetizers. Live and DJ music will be provided by James Romero. Cost is $30; RSVP to the parish office.

The Solemnity of Mary — Tuesday, Dec. 31, The Cathedral of the Madeleine will have a vigil Mass and Te Deum at 6 p.m. with the Cathedral Choir; on New Year’s Day the Masses will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m. in English and 3 p.m. in Spanish with the Cathedral Spanish Choir.

The Solemnity of the Epiphany — Sunday, Jan. 5, The Cathedral of the Madeleine will offer the Sacrament of Penance from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. First Saturday Vespers will begin at 4 p.m. The vigil Mass will be at 5 p.m. in English and 7 p.m. in Spanish. Masses on Jan. 5 will be in English at 8:30 a.m. and, with the Cathedral Choir, at 11 a.m. Lauds will be at 10 a.m. The 3 p.m. Mass in Spanish will be with the Cathedral Spanish Choir. Vespers and Benediction with the Cathedral Choir will be at 5 p.m.; Mass also will be celebrated in English at 6 p.m.

Judge Memorial CHS Placement Exam — Saturday, Jan. 11, 7:45 a.m. in the Judge Memorial auditorium, 650 South 1100 East, SLC. Respect Life Bilingual Rosary — Sunday, Jan. 19, 2–3 p.m. at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 275 U St., SLC. A rosary will be said to mark the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. Meet near the Monument to the Unborn, next to the mausoleum.

Sister Florence Deacon OSF, will present this year’s Aquinas Lecture, "Women of the Gospel, Women of the Church," addressing the roles of all women in the Church. Knights of Columbus Council 5502 50th anniversary — Saturday, Feb. 1, 5:30 p.m. at Saint Olaf Catholic Church, 276 East 1700 South, SLC. Bishop John C. Wester will preside, dinner to follow. Cost is $20 for the dinner. Tickets are now available after Masses at the church.

Scout Religious Emblem Ceremony — Saturday, Feb. 8, 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who have earned their religious awards will receive their emblems from Bishop John C. Wester. All who want to participate must contact the Office of Youth Ministry at 801-891-5832 ext. 313 no later than Jan. 10.

Bingo — Every Friday night doors open at 5:45 p.m. for dinner and bingo starts at 6:45 p.m. at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Cost is $15, includes dinner with 18 games of bingo.

The Good Samaritan Program — The Cathedral of the Madeleine is in dire need of coats, socks, hats and gloves for the homeless. Items can be delivered Monday-Friday 830 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cathedral Rectory, 331 E. South Temple, SLC.
