Level II Training — for those who minister Eucharist to the sick and shut-in will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, 6 – 9:30 p.m. at the Chancery Building, 303 E. South Temple, SLC. Guest Speaker — Dr. Daniel P. Castillo, assistant professor at Loyola University Maryland, will speak on the environment, poverty and the Book of Genesis at the invitation of the Religious Studies Program at the University of Utah. Wednesday, Sept. 16 at noon in the University of Utah’s Language and Communications Building, Room 2110. The public is invited to attend.

Pastoral Congress — The Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Congress is scheduled for Sept. 19 at the Skaggs Catholic Center, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. Everyone is invited to attend. Register at www.dioslc.org.

Garage Sale — Knights of Columbus St. Ambrose 15418 will host a multi-family, parishwide garage sale Saturday, Sept. 19, 7 a.m -3 p.m. Items include household wares, tools, clothing, shoes, furniture and WaveRunners. 

Festa Italiana — Festival celebrating Italian culture, food and entertainment. Saturday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; 400 West 300 South. Holy Cross Ministries Fundraiser — The Autumn Harvest Benefit for Holy Cross Ministries’ school readiness and after-school programs in Park City will be Saturday, Sept. 19, 4 p.m. at St. Regis Deer Valley Resort, 2300 Deer Valley Dr. in Park City. Carmelite Fair — Sunday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. the Carmelite monastery, 5714 S. Holladay Blvd., SLC. The fair is the  main source of income for the cloistered Carmelite nuns, who spend their lives praying for the world. The fair offers a day of family fun, with games, rides, food, raffle, entertainment, and silent and live auctions. Donations, either monetary contributions or new items, can be dropped off or sent to the monastery. There are also a 5K run/walk/jog and a golf tournament to benefit the Carmelite nuns. Western Celebration — Friday, Sept. 25, 6-8 p.m. at San Andres Parish, 315 East 100 North, Payson. JD Shepherd Band will provide the music for the adult-only country dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. The western theme will be complete with cowboy poetry at 9 p.m. provided by local poets. Presale prices are $10 for dinner only, $20 each for combination dinner/dance or $35 per couple. St. Andrew Charity Open — Saturday, Sept. 26 at The Ridge Golf Course, 5055 Westridge Blvd., West Valley City. Golf tournament will benefit Saint Andrew families in need of tuition assistance.
