40 Hours Devotion for Vocations — Dec. 15-21. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2840 South 9000 West, Magna, will have a 40-hour period of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in solemn exposition with a special emphasis for vocations. Contact the parish for details.

Rosary and Holy Hour — Sunday, Dec. 15, 3 p.m. at the Carmelite monastery, 5714 Holladay Blvd., Holladay. All are invited to join the Knights of Columbus Council #5214 and the Carmelite nuns to praise God, honor His Mother and pray for our Holy Catholic Church.

Pastoral Center Closed — The Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Center will be closed Tuesday-Thursday, Dec. 24-26, for the Christmas holiday. It will reopen Friday, Dec. 27, at 8:30 a.m.

Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God — Wednesday, Jan. 1, is a holy day of obligation in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. However, the faithful in the rural parishes and missions, in consideration of weather and travel conditions, could consider themselves dispensed from the obligation.

First Friday Mass and Rosary — Friday, Jan. 3, 9 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 11900 South 300 East, Draper.  All women of the diocese are invited to attend to enrich their prayer life and meet other women of faith.

 Msgr. Benvegnu Lecture — Monday, Jan. 6, 7 p.m. “What Is Christian Spirituality?” presented by Msgr. M. Francis Mannion, pastor emeritus, at St. Vincent Parish Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. This lecture will examine the varied spiritualties of Catholicism and suggest relevant resources and books. Free and open to the public.

Faith & Film Night — Wednesday, Jan. 15, 6 p.m. “Lindy Lou: Juror No. 2” will be shown in the Msgr. Fitzgerald Conference Room, Chancery Building, 303 E. South Temple, SLC. Sponsored by the Office of Life, Justice & Peace. Discussion will follow. Free and open to the public.

Assistive Listening Devices — Up to 20 percent of all people have some degree of hearing loss. The Diocese of SLC Commission for People with Disabilities assists parishes with the purchase of assistive listening devices so that everyone can hear and understand what is spoken at Mass.
