Faith Forum — Dr. Brandon Peterson will speak on “Vatican II: A Case for Change,” Monday, Dec. 7, 7 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Newman Center, 170 University St., SLC. Free and open to the public.

St. Sharbel Relics — at St. Jude Maronite Church, 4900 Wasatch St., Murray. The visitation will be Dec. 6-8. Hours are Sunday, beginning with the Divine Liturgy at 7 p.m.; evening prayer at 9 p.m. and Eucharistic adoration/veneration of the relics until midnight; Monday the Divine Liturgy will be at 8:30 a.m. followed by various devotions until midnight, with the Pontifical Divine Liturgy at 7 p.m. Tuesday the Divine Liturgy will be at 8:30 a.m., followed by Eucharistic adoration; the Carmelite monastery, 5714 Holladay Blvd., will welcome the relics on that day with a 10 a.m. Mass. All are invited.

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception — Tuesday, Dec. 8, is a Holy Day of Obligation.

Winter Dance Concert — presented by the Judge Memorial CHS Performing Arts department; featuring both student and professional choreography. Dec. 9-12 beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Free admission, but donations are encouraged and appreciated.
Open House — St. Joseph CHS, 1790 Lake St., Ogden, will host an Admissions Open House Thursday Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. Learn about the programs that helped St. Joseph achieve a national ranking by The Washington Post. All interested students and parents are invited to attend. 

Drama & Dance Concert — featuring St. John the Baptist Middle School theater and dance programs. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 6 p.m. in the Juan Diego CHS auditorium, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. Free and open to the public.

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe — Mother of the Americas and secondary patroness of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, Saturday, Dec. 12. The cathedral celebrations in Spanish will begin Friday at 9:30 p.m. with an outdoor procession, followed by a vigil inside at 10 p.m. and Mass at 11 p.m. A reception with traditional refreshments will follow. Mass in English will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Saturday in the cathedral, 309 E. South Temple, SLC.

Presentation on St. Thomas Aquinas — Dominican Fr. Peter Hannah will offer a two-part series, “Thomas Aquinas: Saint, Theologian, Mystic,” introducing the life and thought of the patron saint of Catholic theologians, schools and – yes – of pencil makers. Saturdays, Dec. 12 and 19, 11 a.m. – noon at St. Catherine of Siena Newman Center, 170 University St., SLC.

Daytime parish games — in St. Patrick Parish’s social hall, 1058 West 400 South, SLC. Saturdays, Dec. 12 and 19. Hall doors open at noon, early-bird game at 12:45 p.m. Cost: $12; additional games available for purchase. Must be 18 years or older to play. No children allowed. Parish Appeal — Catholic Community Services of Utah’s annual appeal to the parishes in the Diocese of Salt Lake City will be Dec. 12-13. Support CCS by giving in your parish collection, online at https://ccsutah.org/donate or mailing a donation to CCS, 745 East 300 South, SLC, UT 84102.

Faith & Film — University of Utah film professors Bill Siska and Elizabeth Conley will lead the viewing and discussion of two segments (II  and VIII) of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s “The Decalogue.” Tuesday, Dec. 15, 6:30 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Newman Center, 170 University St., SLC. Free and open to the public.

Pastoral Center Closed — The Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Center will close at noon Wednesday, Dec. 23 for Christmas, and reopen at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28.
 
Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord — Friday, Dec. 25 is a holy day of obligation. Check your parish for Mass times.

Catholic Community Services is collecting turkeys and other holiday food items for families in need this holiday season. Drop donations at the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank, 2504 F Ave., Ogden, during regular business hours. For information, call 801-394-5944.

The seasonal Mass at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel, across the road from Alta Lodge in Little Cottonwood Canyon, is under way. Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. each Sunday until the end of April. Mass on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday will be at 10 a.m. 

The Diocesan Committee on Catholic Scouting is accepting nominations for the Bronze Pelican Award and St. George Emblem. These awards recognize adult Scout leaders who have contributed significantly to Catholic Scouting. To nominate a Scout leader for one of these awards, visit http://www.dioslc.org/ministries/youth/youth/boy-scouts-girl-scouts. Nomination forms are due by Dec. 15.

A Healing Mass is celebrated each third Saturday of the month at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, 3560 West 3650 South, West Valley City. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 8 a.m.
