Judge Boys’ Basketball Tryouts (Grades 6-8) — Sunday, Oct. 7 in the Judge gymnasium, 650 South 1100 East, SLC. 6th grade tryout from 12-2 p.m. and the 7th and 8th grade will tryout from 2-4 p.m. These tryouts are for three competitive teams that will compete in local AAU tournaments from Oct. through March. Diocesan Catholics Can Mass —Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, 64 East 500 North, Orem. Join Bishop John C. Saint Olaf Oktoberfest — Saturday, Sept. 29, from 1–9:30 p.m. at Saint Olaf Parish, 1800 S. Orchard Drive, Bountiful. Festival will include a variety of ethnic foods, a beer and wine garden, a marketplace, kids’ games, pony rides, bingo and a car show. Admission is free. Only cash and checks will be accepted.

OLOL Magna Annual Spaghetti Dinner — Sunday, Sept. 30 1 - 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, 2840 South 9000 West, Magna. Cost: Adults $12, Children 12 and under $6 for all you can eat (dine-in) dinner. There will also be Italian cookies for sale and a basket raffle by the CCW.

Level II Training for Extraordinary Ministers of Communion — Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pastoral Center, 27 C St., SLC. Level II training for those who minister Communion to the sick and shut-in. Pre-registration is required and there is a $7 workshop fee to cover books and materials. International Rosary March — Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. at Saint Ann Church, 450 East 2100 South, SLC. The Rosary March is timed to correspond with others reciting the rosary around the world. Year of Faith — Thursday, Oct. 11, the "Year of Faith" proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI will open around the world. In the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Bishop John C. Wester will open the Year of Faith on Oct. 11 with a "Noon Day Prayer" service at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. The service will be about 30 minutes. All are invited.

Cathedral of the Madeleine Children’s Religious Education — Classes begin on Sunday, Sept. 9th. Education registration is available from 9-9:25 a.m. each Sunday in the lower level of the Cathedral in Room 7 for Pre-Kindergarten (4 yr. old) through 12th Grade.
