Save the Date — Friday Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. for the annual Bishop’s Dinner to benefit the Cathedral of the Madeleine. The guest speaker this year will be the Most Rev. Blase Cupich, Bishop of Spokane, Wash. The event will be hosted at The Grand America Hotel, 555 S. Main St. in Salt Lake City.@

Second Annual Gathering Holy Cross Associate — Saturday, Aug. 27, 8:30 a.m to noon, Holy Cross Ministries, 860 East 4500 South #204. All are invited to join.

St. Francis Xavier Parish Festival — Saturday, Aug. 27, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Beginning at 8 a.m. will be a farmer’s market and garage sale, at 9 a.m. there will be a children’s fun run, festival activities from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and a dance at 8 p.m., which will cost $10 per person.

Fall Festival and 5K Run — Saturday, Aug. 27, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish and School, 9800 South 1700 East, Sandy. Admission is free. Pot Luck Farewell Luncheon — Sunday, Aug. 28 for Msgr. Bill Bonczewski, pastor of Saint Jude Maronite Catholic Church, who is being is reassigned to West Virginia. The luncheon will be at the church, 4900 Wasatch St., Murray, following the 10:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy.

Back to School Night — Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Judge Memorial Catholic High School, 650 South 1100 East, SLC. Follow your student’s schedule, meet teachers, and receive classroom policies and grading criteria from teachers. Also tour the school, visit the counseling center, library and Spirit Shop. 14th Annual FolkFest — Friday-Sunday, Sept 9-11, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 7405 South Redwood Rd. Free concerts and fireworks, delicious food, beer garden, Big Top games for adults and children, crafts fair, car show, Scottish Highland games, 3K and 5K Fun Run, golf and horseshoe tournaments, outdoor Mass and brunch on Saturday. St. Joseph the Worker 12th annual Golf Tournament — Saturday Sept. 10, 8 a.m. shotgun start at Murray Parkway Golf Course, 6345 S. Murray Parkway Ave., Murray. Cost is $75 per person, includes 18 holes with cart, continental breakfast, prizes, lunch at the parish FolkFest and a sign up bag. Harvest Festival and Carnival — Saturday, Sept. 10, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. Starting at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, the event will include games and entertainment featuring musicians and dancers from the surrounding areas, a farmer’s market and local business vendors. Bulldog Scramble Golf Tourney — Sunday, Sept. 11 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Mountain Dell golf course, Interstate 80 Exit 134, SLC. Entry fee is $110 per person or $400 for a foursome, includes green fee, cart, and lunch. Sixth Annual Fall Festival — Saturday Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., hosted by Saint Lawrence Catholic Mission, 5 South 100 West, Heber. Activities include a bake sale, farmer’s market, dog sled rides, buggy rides, games, food, music, beer garden and silent auction.

Persons with Disabilities — Saturday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. at Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, will be the fourth annual Catholics Can Mass. Autumn Catholic Teen Social — Sunday, Sept. 18, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Skaggs Catholic Center for teens, grades 6 - 12. The rally will feature Danny Ray, Christian illusionist and magician, dinner, Mass with Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, and fun and games with fellow Catholic teens.
