6 May, 1947 ~ 21 February, 2019

Avon Gentry Brown was born May 6, 1947 in Ogden, to Frances C. Brown and Cordell D. Brown. He was raised in Magna and graduated from Cyprus High School. After serving the United States of America honorably in the Vietnam War, having received the Purple Heart Award for wounds sustained in battle and recommended for the Bronze Star Medal for heroism, Mr. Brown attended the University of Utah and ultimately became a senior design and analysis engineer at Hercules Aerospace Company.

Mr. Brown enjoyed a tremendous entrepreneurial spirit, receiving several U.S. patents on various projects and always working to achieve greater success for his family.

Gentry Brown married Lourdes Caridad Costa Fernandez on April 30, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mr. Brown was a loving husband, caring son, great friend, kind soul, and the best father a son could ever have. A man of the highest character who always considered his family and friends before himself, Mr. Brown always had a positive impact on everyone he met. Whether that was an individual at a restaurant who needed someone to provide joy in the day or his son who finished a long day at school for whom he was there to provide a smile and shoulder to cry on, Mr. Brown cared about everyone and was always determined to show kindness to those he met.

Gentry Brown led a life that most can only dream of, accomplishing great success through hard work, determination and a firm commitment to his integrity and principles. On February 21, 2019 at approximately 9:55 p.m. MST, Avon Gentry Brown passed away in his sleep with his son at his side.

He leaves behind his wife and son. While the sorrow we feel is too much to bear, we find comfort in knowing that he is watching over us and that he is no longer in pain. We love you, Dad, and we will miss you. May your soul rest in peace.

A funeral service was held March 2 at Neil O’Donnell & Sons Mortuary; Father David Trujillo officiated. Committal followed March 5 at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City.
