SALT LAKE CITY — On Wednesday, April 8, 2009, Bishop John C. Wester, Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, will undergo surgery for the removal of his prostrate gland. During a routine physical examination it was determined that there was a slight elevation in his PSA level and subsequent tests indicated he had a small malignancy in one section of his prostrate gland. It was determined that the surgery would be beneficial for his long term health at this time. The bishop will spend several weeks recuperating and assume public liturgical ministry as he is able.
