A statue of the Blessed Mother donated by the Sisters of Saint Benedict who just left Ogden is lifted into its new place in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery’s Holy Cross Plat, the area dedicated to priests and religious women and men. The Benedictines donated the concrete statue, which is more than 9 feet tall and weighs roughly 5,000 pounds. The Big D Construction Company was instrumental in the relocation project, while Intermountain Rigging and Heavy Haulers supplied the mobile crane and semi-truck for the move. Joe Mitchell Construction and De Luca Excavating prepared the placement site and contributed the concrete pad on which the statue now rests. "The statue is a great addition to Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, plus a permanent tribute to the Benedictine Sisters for their many years of service and dedication to the Diocese of Salt Lake City," said John Curtice, the cemetery director.
