SANDY — Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary/Middle School is expanding to include a Science Lab/Fine Arts wing. This new addition has been on the drawing board for almost three years and their diligence in this pursuit has paid off. The Science Lab/Fine Arts addition is a monumental accomplishment that was made possible by the generosity of the ALSAM Foundation. The Blessed Sacrament community is grateful to Aileen and Sam Skaggs for sharing the vision and making this dream a reality for the students.

Established in 1986, the school serves grades Pre-Kindergarten through Eight keeping in mind the mission to nurture the whole child spiritually, academically, emotionally, and socially. Students feel safe, secure, and an integral part of a community. The staff goes beyond academics to serve as role models as students begin the journey of becoming life-long learners with a strong, value-centered foundation from which to grow and are diligent in their quest to incorporate teaching, learning, and virtues on a daily basis. As part of the character education program, a virtue is spotlighted and lessons incorporated into the classroom curriculum each month. They received the 2008 National Best Practices Award for their Interfaith Meditation Garden. The award was presented on October 19, 2008 at the 2008 National Forum on Character Education in Washington D.C.

Blessed Sacrament School believes education is most successful when there is a healthy partnership between the family and school. The school aims to assist in developing caring and respectful relationships. The Home & School Association fosters this partnership by providing community building events and fundraising activities. Volunteer opportunities abound and last year, parents logged an amazing 10,112.75 volunteer hours! Students graduate prepared for the challenges they will encounter in this global world without feelings of being overwhelmed and intimidated. It is with the successful school and parent partnership that this goal will be achieved.
