SANDY — Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Middle Schools celebrated Bishop John C. Wester Day May 3. A wall-sized welcome banner containing artwork and a special message from each student greeted the newly installed bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City upon his arrival.

All classes, pre-kindergarten through eighth grades spent several days preparing for his arrival. The day began with a school Mass concelebrated by Bishop Wester and Msgr. Robert Servatius, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Following Mass, Bishop Wester visited each classroom and spent time answering numerous questions from the students. Following a tour of the new church and the school, the faculty and staff were treated to a luncheon with the bishop.

The student council presented Bishop Wester with a scrapbook containing pictures of each of the 304 students and a handwritten note. The faculty and staff presented a gift basket to Bishop Wester containing books on Utah, hiking trails, and boating and kayaking adventures. The entire Blessed Sacrament community feels privileged to have been part of such an exciting and special day!
