At the beginning of Religious Education classes at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 5th-grade catechist Rocky Conner asked his students if they had any suggestions for class activities. One student, Nicholas Siddoway, asked if they could bring their pets to class. This suggestion was brought to the attention of Msgr. Robert Servatius, pastor, and he agreed to a pet blessing.

With the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi quickly approaching, the wheels were put in motion, and on Oct. 2, Blessed Sacrament Parish and School held their first Pet Blessing. The turnout was wonderful and the weather was great. Those in attendance gathered together with their beloved gerbils, cats, birds and, of course, many of man’s best friend (dogs). The furry and feathered crowd was surprisingly well-behaved while Msgr. Bob gave a lovely blessing.

Saint Patrick Parish celebrated the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi on Oct. 4. After communion Father Lourduraj Gally, pastor, went around and blessed the parishioners and their pets. The event brought eight dogs, one cat and a chicken. To view more photos, see the Intermountain Catholic Facebook page.
