By Joanna Wheelton Special to the Intermountain Catholic SALT LAKE CITY — Choristers and student servers from the Madeleine Choir School participated in the Rite of Investiture during the 5:15 p.m. Mass at the Cathedral of the Madeleine Sept. 29. The rite, annually celebrated on the Feast of the Archangels, invites the choir school students to commit themselves to their work of providing music and assistance with the many public worship services held in the cathedral throughout the year. These services number more than 120 celebrations of the Mass, weddings, funerals and multiple concerts. The Cathedral’s Concert Series offers free performances to the larger community, featuring great masterworks of the choral art and seasonal holiday programs. National and international performance tours are an integral part of every student’s experience at The Madeleine Choir School; past tours encompassed performances in Rome, Assisi, Florence, Madrid, Seville, Brussels, Munich, and Vienna – including St. Peter’s Basilica, and Notre Dame de Paris. The Choristers can be heard throughout the year in most weeks at daily services on Monday through Thursday at 5:15 p.m. and at the Cathedral’s Sunday 11 a.m. Solemn Mass. Information about performances and the Cathedral’s Concert Series can be found at www.utmcs.org. All are welcome to attend the Cathedral’s services of worship and the concert performances.
