DRAPER — John Colosimo, Juan Diego Catholic High School head football coach, has been voted as USA Today’s Best High School Football Coach in Utah in a contest that opened Sept. 30. Colosimo is in his 14th season at Juan Diego; he has a 129-29 record and has won five 3A state titles. In the state round, he competed against seven other head coaches; he now is competing in the regional round. Region 7 is comprised of Utah, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. The eight regional winners will move To the national round, which starts Oct. 21 and ends at noon Oct. 29. The champion will be crowned based on the most votes received online at http://contest.usatodayhss.com/vote/bestcoach2013/r7. The athletic department of the winning coach will receive $2,000. Second through fifth places also will receive cash prizes for the athletic departments. All eight finalists will receive banners for their schools. Courtesy photo/JDCHS
