Deacon Sosefo (Sefo) Aselemo Manu, 69, died November 2, in Murray.
Sosefo Manu was born in Nuku’alofa Tonga on April 17, 1955 to Siulolovao Palu and Veleveni Manu. he was the fourth oldest of nine siblings, Ahofa, Tevita, Suliana, Malakai, Tofua, Sima, Manu and Lupe.
In 1976 he moved to Utah and studied at Utah Technical College. Sefo and RoseAnna married on December 6, 1986 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Salt Lake City. The couple raised two children in Salt Lake City.
On November 30, 1997 Sefo was ordained as a deacon by the Most Rev. George H. Niederauer, eighth Bishop of Salt Lake City, at the Cathedral of the Madeliene. He was assigned to St. Patrick Parish in Salt Lake City, where he served until his retirement from active ministry in 2022.
He is survived by his wife, RoseAnna; two sons, Tevita (Afradydi), and Alekisanita (Penny); and grandchildren Pearl, Alekisanita and Paige.
Sefo is preceded in death by both his parents Siulolovao and Veleveni and his brother, Malakai.
The wake will be held on Sunday, November 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1058 West 400 South, Salt Lake City. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 11 at 11 a.m., also at St. Patrick's. A viewing will be held one hour prior.
