Father Gustavo Vidal, pastor of Saint Mary Parish in West Haven, hosted our meeting of the Diocesan Pastoral Council this past Saturday. This important diocesan body is one of the main advisory boards that assists me in the prudent governance of our diocese. Its members represent a cross section of our entire diocese and they work hard in reacting to the issues brought to them as well as suggesting possible directions the diocese might pursue. They help me to develop a vision for our diocese and to formulate the steps necessary to realize that vision. I am very grateful to all of the members of the Council, particularly Deacon Jack Clark, president; Maria Santillas, secretary-treasurer; and Julie Boerio-Goates, past president. We are blessed to have such dedicated lay leaders in our local Church.
