Diocese to celebrate the end of Year of Faith + Enlarge

The Most Rev. John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, will celebrate the end of the Year of Faith with two Masses at the Cathedral of the Madeleine on Sunday, Nov. 24, the Feast of Christ the King.

"The Year of Faith has been a wonderful opportunity for us, a year of grace for us in the Diocese of Salt Lake City as we have been able to study the faith, live the faith and celebrate the faith," Bishop Wester said. "I want to make it clear, though, that for all of us in our diocese, even though the Year of Faith is officially ending, we’re continuing to live as people of faith. We want to always be studying the faith and always seeing how we can apply it practically in our lives, and how we can celebrate it, giving thanks to God for the gift of faith in our midst.

"To this end, I’m asking that all of us continue to study, to live and to celebrate the New Evangelization. The New Evangelization, put simply, is a movement that allows us Catholics to be re-invigorated with our faith and to let that energy be contagious – to reach out to our brothers and sisters who perhaps have left the Catholic Church, or just have fallen away from the Catholic Church, and also to share the faith with those who are not Catholic and who have never been Catholic."

On Nov. 24 at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, Bishop Wester will celebrate Year of Faith Masses at 11 a.m. in English and 3 p.m. in Spanish. All are welcome.
