Dolores DeWulf O'Farrell

Cheyenne Wyo. — Dolores Helene "Dody" DeWulf O’Farrell, 83, passed away on June 6, 2011 in Cheyenne, Wyo.

O’Farrell was born on June 28, 1927 in Rawlins, Wyo., the eldest of three daughters born to Joseph L. DeWulf and Helen Brown DeWulf.

O’Farrell attended nurses training at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Ogden, Utah and was a member of the first graduating class of 1950. She was awarded the "Most Outstanding Student Nurse in the State of Utah" for her outstanding academic achievements. She married William Kirby "Bill" O’Farrell on Oct. 4, 1952 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs, Wyo.

O’Farrell was a member of St. Ambrose Parish, St. Ann’s Guild and St. Mary’s Alter Society. She was extremely generous and supported global Catholic Charities. At the time of her death she was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish in Cheyenne, Wyo.

O’Farrell was preceded in death by her parents.

O’Farrell is survived by her husband, Bill, their three daughters and families: Kathleen O’Farrell Kottenstette (Michael) of Laramie; Laureen O’Farrell Powell; (Kevin) of Point Roberts, Washington; Colleen O’Farrell West (Charlie) of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren: Sean Kottenstette, Lauren Kottenstette, Dr. Ann Marie Powell Byrd (Ross), Shannon Powell, Laura Powell Rousey (Aaron), Andrea West Stewart (Danny), and Catherine West. Three great-grand-children: Ava Marie Byrd, William Patrick Byrd, Leona Beth Powell; sisters: Patricia "Patsy" DeWulf Radman (Pete) of Rock Springs; and Margaret "Peggy" DeWulf Evans; 22 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Wyo.
