SALT LAKE CITY — The Cathedral of the Madeleine, like every other Catholic Church in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, was filled with one Easter observance after the other April 15 and 16. And from Holy Thursday, April 12, through Holy Saturday, April 15, the Easter Triduum was observed – the time when, as Father Ron Rolheiser wrote, "darkness has its hour." In separate ceremonies, The Cathedral observed the Last Supper, Jesus’ Agony in the Garden of Ges-themane, his passion, his crucifixion, and the emptiness that blanketed the world until Easter Sunday, when Jesus’ tomb was found empty, and "He is Risen!" was proclaimed in song.

During the Easter Vigil the Cathedral of the Madeleine welcomed 13 new elect and candidates into full membership in the faith. Across the diocese, 525 elect and candidates approached altars in Utah Catholic churches large and small, committing themselves to a full life in Christ.
