SALT LAKE CITY — Emery M. Carter, 88, passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2011. Carter was born May 19, 1923 in Pocatello, Idaho to Louise and Roy D. Carter. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1942 and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Marie Antoinette DeVriendt on March 31, 1948. Carter is survived by his wife of 63 years, son, Jim (Jane) Emery and grandchildren, Joseph and Jaime. Carter was preceded in death by all of his sisters. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
