Fileberto Romero

MIDVALE — Fileberto "Phil" Romero, 89, died April 29.

Romero was born June 7, 1918, in Chromo, Colo., to Jesus Maria Romero and Isabel Perea Romero. He married Julia D. Gallegos in Pagosa Springs, Colo. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends at get-togethers. He also enjoyed teasing and joking with his children and grandchildren, and people loved to be around him. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a medal of honor.

He is survived by his children, Angie and Marcie Madril, Boyd and Cyndi Romero, Rick and Amy Romero, LeRoy and Jodi Romero, and Phyllis and Jerry Fennemore; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. Interment was in Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
