Francis L. Stubbs

MIDVALE — Francis (Hap) L. Stubbs, 95, died on Feb. 11, 2011. He was a member of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish.

Stubbs was born on Oct. 31, 1915, to Evan Jeremiah and Ella Louise Burgess Stubbs. He married Enedina (Dena) Astorga Elizondo Stubbs on Oct. 5, 1962 in Elko, Nev. He worked for Kennecott Copper Corp for 41 Years as a shovel engineer. He was a World War II veteran, an avid sportsman, loved traveling, and enjoyed family gatherings. He treasured the time spent with his kids in his fun, laughing, teasing ways. He was a scratch golfer who played in the State Amateur Golf Tournament against Jack Gardner and beat him by one stroke.

He is survived by his wife Enedina, children, Art Elizondo (Jo Granzin), Kathy Elizondo Thompson Cooper (Harlan); niece Margie Stubbs Morgan (Dick); another nephew and niece and their children; nine grandchildren and their spouses, 16 great-grandchildren and their spouses; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Therese Catholic Church. Interment was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
