Fun run to raise funds for parish youth group

Friday, Aug. 07, 2015

BOUNTIFUL — The Saint Olaf Youth Group will hold its inaugural 5K Fun Run through a course in Bountiful on Aug. 29, beginning on the grounds of Saint Olaf School.
The family-friendly event is a fundraiser for the parish’s youth group that will enable them to defray costs of their activities, religious retreats and out-of-state conferences. The mission of the Saint Olaf Youth Group is to promote unity among the parish’s young people and to lead them to service in the parish and community.
Some of the community efforts they have already completed are compiling sewing kits for overseas military personnel; scarf and glove gift packages for under–privileged children; working with the Feed My Starving Children Program, where they helped to pack 200,000 meals for kids around the world; and preparing and serving a homemade spaghetti dinner to residents at the Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City.
In the parish, they have helped serve food and assisted in cleanup for the Deanery Luncheon, First Communion and Confirmation celebrations, serving and cleaning up a parish Lenten Dinner and performed their version of the Live Stations of the Cross.
The youth in the group hope that the fun run fundraiser will help them recruit more members and allow them to serve the parish and our community in even more and better ways.
