Aug. 30, 1934 – July 10, 2017

Gene Krogh left this earth quietly and on his own terms on July 10, 2017. He passed peacefully on the 11th hole at Mountain Dell Golf course in Salt Lake City, in the company of his two good friends Pat King and David Cooper.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1934 to Leo and Della Krogh in St. Paul, Minn.

Gene lived a good and honest life. He was a true friend, a loving and supportive husband to his wife, June, and a fun and devoted father to his three daughters: Susan, Nancy and Diane. Those who knew him loved him. Gene had a way of making those in his company feel important and valued. He was gentle, unassuming and kind, with a razor-sharp wit. His grandchildren were the lights of his life. They all loved him and will cherish their memories of “Grandpa Duck.”

Gene lived a life he loved. He was out golfing nearly every day with his friends, pouring over books on every subject, playing pool and spending time with June at home or doing the activities they both enjoyed.  One of his favorite times of the year were his winters in California, golfing with friends old and new, walking the beach with June and watching the pelicans and dolphins. Gene loved spending time with his grandkids and daughters and always made time for chocolate ice cream and a good joke. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, June; daughters Susan Callister (Andy), Nancy Hershgold (Peter Nichols) and Diane Lee (Geoffrey); grandchildren Alexandra Spratling (Benjamin), Adam Callister, Jordan and Ashton Lee, Brandt Kempin, and Sam and Megan Hershgold; and siblings Lee Krogh, Linda McCabe and Faye Sargent.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rita Krogh.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on July 18 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
