hummerlstown, pa. — Gerard George Trageser, 83, passed away Sept. 26, 2013, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Trageser was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Baltimore, Md., to the late Henry and Melvina (Parr) Trageser. He was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Palmyra, and participated in Catholic social justice, through which he was instrumental in starting the JustFAITH movement in central Pennsylvania. Trageser was an executive director for the American Cancer Society in various states for over 25 years. Trageser is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vivian R. (Ortega) Trageser; son, Philip Trageser; daughter, Catherine (Rob) O’Neill; three grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Flo) Trageser, Jim (Judy) Trageser and Jerome (Claire) Trageser; two sisters, Barbara (Hersh) Brown and Melvina Gayo; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church.
