SALT LAKE CITY —This year will mark the third year in a row that Catholic Community Services of Utah will be participating in Love Utah Give Utah, an opportunity for people to donate to their favorite nonprofit organization through a single online donation platform.
The 24-hour online fundraising effort, which will be March 26, is hosted by the Community Foundation of Utah and offers hundreds of nonprofits the opportunity to raise millions of dollars.
“This is the third year of Love UT Give UT and CCS has been able to participate each year,” said Danielle Stamos, CCS’ coordinator of public relations & marketing.
CCS has 10 distinct programs that will benefit from the online charitable appeal: the Weigand Day Center, Refugee Foster Care, St. Martha’s Baby Project, immigration services, food for a homeless family for either two days or a week, the Refugee Resettlement Program, St. Mary’s Home for Men, the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall, and the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank.
“Love UT Give UT has allowed us to continue offering our services to those most in need, specifically our Bridging the Gap program in Northern Utah, which provides weekend meals to children on school assisted-food programs,” said Stamos.
Another outcome of Love UT Give UT for CCS has been increasing awareness of their services and of their clients.
“It is extremely important that our community is aware of their friends and neighbors who need a lifting hand, and this campaign has allowed us to get the word out,” said Stamos, adding that, as the social service arm of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, CCS provides help and creates hope for those most in need; “however, we cannot do so without the support of our community.”
Campaigns like Love UT Give UT are a “good way for people to get involved in a great cause and help where they can,” Stamos said. “We are excited to be a part of another year of Love UT Give UT and hope to make this the best one yet!”
Last year Love UT Give UT raised more than $1,058,839 in 24 hours, with a total of 15,311 donations and 10,562 unique donors. CCS had 78 donors.
Since 1945, Catholic Community Services of Utah has been empowering people in need along the Wasatch Front to reach self-sufficiency. “By giving strength to the weakest in our midst, CCS is able to lovingly serve and provide hope to those with the greatest need in our community regardless of race, religion or personal circumstance,” reads the mission statement from the organization.
