Helen P. Halfhill

SALT LAKE CITY — Helen P. Halfhill, 94, died March 4, at CHRISTUS Saint Joseph Villa. She was a member of Saint Ambrose Parish.

Halfhill was born July 21, 1913, to Joseph and Mary Pruss. She graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School in 1930. She attended Business College and worked at the State Capitol where she met her husband, Herschall Halfhill. They were married in Price April 28, 1935. She was also employed by the Granite District School lunch program. Halfhill was a member of the Catholic Woman’s League, she served as vice-president and president of the Saint Ambrose Altar Society, and was an active member of the St. Ambrose 49ers Club, where she served as president, treasurer, secretary, and chaired various committees. She was also a member of Saint Ann’s Guild, sang in several church choirs, and was selected as St. Ambrose Woman of the Year in 1984. The highlight of her life was her trip to Italy and Jerusalem in 2000.

She is survived by four children, Mary Novotny of Maryland, Karen Jensen of Oregon, Michael (Tina) Halfhill of California, Eileen (Robert) Welling of Utah; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
