Henry Carlson

Henry Carlson passed away peacefully Sept. 3, 2011. He was born in Ogden, Utah on Oct. 30, 1940 to Arnold and Anna Carlson. A 1958 graduate of Saint Joseph Catholic High School, he married Karen Joy Mayes on June 2, 1962. Carlson was a machinist and retired from Williams International after 25 years. During his life he was a Utah Hunters Safety Instructor, Scout Master, and an avid bowler. He entered the Knights of Columbus and, after attaining the 4th Degree, became Grand Knight of his local council and then went on to become District Deputy. From 1990 to 1992 he served as Utah Sate Deputy; he was instrumental in the formation of the Knights of Columbus in Utah. He is survived by his brother, Robert Carlson; his children Paul Carlson, Michele Carlson-Vanderzee, Erin Carlson-Cook, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents.

A joint funeral Mass for Henry and his wife, Karen, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, with rosary recited at 6 p.m. at the Larkin & Sons Mortuary 496 24th St., Ogden, Post condolences to the family at www.viewobit.com/larkinmortuary.
