North Ogden — Jean Marie Murphy was born Sept. 16, 1943 in Remsen, Iowa, to Cletus Sudtelgte and Marie Forkenbrock. She passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 17, 2017 after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Remsen, Iowa, in 1961. She met the love of her life, Kenneth Murphy, on a blind date in 1962. They were married on Feb. 23, 1963. They had three beautiful children.

Jean truly loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of being outdoors, hiking, golfing and reading. She was a devoted member of St. James the Just Catholic Church. She did many services for the church, including teaching catechism classes. She always went above and beyond to help others in need. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; son Jeff; grandchildren Chaz, Aimee, Halie, Shaylynn and Austin; great-grandchildren Kambrie, Boston, Hunter and Nicholas. She is also survived by three brothers and three sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Kathy; daughter Patricia; son Michael; and daughter-in-law Michelle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at St. James the Just Catholic Church, 495 N. Harrison Blvd., Ogden. A viewing will be held Thursday, Sept., 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, where a rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Following the service, cremation will be under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
