Jose Guadalupe Garza

OGDEN — Jose Guadalupe Garza, 82, died June 26, at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was a member of Saint James Parish, Ogden.

Garza was born March 28, 1926, in McAllen, Texas, to Jose and Gertrudis Garza. He married Emma Elizondo. He served during the Korean War in the 1st Anti-Aircraft Command. After the war he served as a volunteer at the Veterans’ Hospital. He worked as a civilian contractor for Clearfield Navy Base. He attended Barber College and Weber State College in the criminal justice program. He worked as a security officer at the Defense Depot of Ogden. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus at Saint James Parish. He enjoyed music, golf, baseball, bowling, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Irene M. Cruz; three grandchildren, Joseph Manuel Garza, Belinda Cruz, and Dennis Cruz; great-granddaughter, Cheyanne Solana Garza, Florida; two sisters, Gertrudis Garza and Esperanza Gonzales, both of Texas; and brother, Ramiro Garza, Reynosa, Mexico.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint James Catholic Church. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
