SALT LAKE CITY — Karen Joy Mayes-Carlson died Aug. 31, 2011. She was born in Minnesota on Oct. 20, 1943 to Leonard and Maxine Mayes. She married Henry Carlson on June 2, 1962. She worked at I.R.S in Ogden, from which she retired in 2005. She is survived by her father, Leonard; sister, Francis Mayes-Vigil; her children Paul Carlson, Michele Carlson-Vanderzee and Erin Carlson-Cook; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Robb-Mayes. A joint funeral Mass for Karen and her husband, Henry, was celebrated at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
