SALT LAKE CITY — Katherine Gertino Platts Burkhardt passed away July 2, 2012 after a hard-fought struggle with cancer.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1928 in Salt Lake City to John and Margaret Gertino. She married Richard Platts, who preceded her in death. She then married Jack Burkhardt, who also preceded her in death.

Burkhardt is survived by sister Josie Puckett; son Rick Platts (Jill Wollschleger); niece; two grandsons, granddaughter; three great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by brother Frank Gertino and sister Jackie Burgess.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ann Catholic Church.
