SALT LAKE CITY — Kathleen Despain Miller Duran, 69, passed away May 14, 2012 after a battle with metastatic melanoma.

Duran was born on June 13, 1942 in Salt Lake City to Neldon and Carolyn Despain. She married John Manuel Duran on Sept. 5, 1959. She worked as a school crossing guard for West Valley City for 25 years. She was baptized into the Catholic Church in 1963 and was a devout Catholic who was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Duran is survived by her husband; son John (Susan); daughters Teresa, Patricia, Jeanille (Bill), Alicia (Brad) and Christina (Ryan); nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and siblings Carolyn, Jeanine, Michael, Toni and Phillip.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings LynnDee and Timothy.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
