Chris Hemmersmeier, president/CEO of Jerry Seiner Dealerships, gives the keys to the 2013 Kia Soul he donated for this year’s Carmelite Fair to Carmelite Mother Maureen Goodwin, superior of the Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Holladay. The car will be raffled and the winner announced at the fair, which is the Carmelites’ primary fundraiser. "We are really indebted to Chris," Mother Maureen said, because the raffle of the car brings in a significant amount. The fair has a longstanding relationship with the dealership and with Hemmersmeier, who in previous years gave the car at a discount, said Michael Griffin, who directs the fair’s car raffle. "But this year, because he’s donating the car, we’re beginning the fundraising efforts in the black. That means that all of the values from the pre-fair ticket donations go right to the sisters. It’s a wonderful blessing." The Knights of Columbus will begin selling raffle tickets for the car the first weekend in April at parishes in northern Utah. A direct mail campaign will begin in the middle of August, and tickets will be available at the fair. The 2013 Carmelite Fair will be Sept. 15.
