Knights of Columbus Council 602 donated $10,000 to the Cathedral of the Madeleine to help update the automatic light dimming system that is used for liturgical and choral events. The Knights have donated to many maintenance projects over the years, including a $25,000 gift for renovation of the Cathedral bells in the 1990s, and the latest donation "continues the great tradition they have, and it helps the Cathedral immensely," said Monsignor Joseph M. Mayo, rector. The list of upcoming maintenance projects at the Cathedral includes updating the sound system components and replacing the incandescent lighting. "We have lots of little projects that occur," Msgr. Mayo said. "There’s always a list." Shown from left at the May 12 check presentation ceremony are Tom Catrow, Grand Knight; Dan Higgins, Past Grand Knight and Past State Deputy; and Msgr. Mayo.
