SALT LAKE CITY — For 44 years, Catholic Community Services’ St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall has served hundreds each day, but finding it used to pose a challenge because it lacked identifying signs. However, on Feb. 22 CCS celebrated the presentation of the dining hall’s new signs, which, aside from making the place easier to find, will give name recognition.

The signs were made possible through the donation of three businesses: YESCO (Young Electric Signs Company), Faktory and Marketing Ferrari.

The signs will benefit people like José Lázaro, now Basic Needs Services Director at CCS, who went to interview for his current position and found himself standing in a very long line.

"Not knowing how else to enter the building, I simply followed the line of folks wrapping around the building, not realizing they were waiting for lunch," Lázaro said. "Needless to say, I was late for my interview, but it all worked out at the end."

Like Lázaro, many people have passed by the building or eaten at the dining hall without knowing the organization that runs the place. That won’t be the case anymore.

Three new signs, two on the exterior and one inside, identify the building and the work being done.

On Feb. 22, CCS Executive Director Bradford R. Drake presented recognitions to representatives of the companies that made the signs a reality.

Jeff Young, Salt Lake City division manager of YESCO (Young Electric Sign Company); Thomas Young, YESCO chairman; Richard Oliver and Bryant Marcum from Faktory; and Heidi Hall, marketing director of Ferrari Color; received appreciation letters from the Most Reverend John C. Wester, Bishop of Salt Lake City, for their donation to the CCS building. Drake presented the letters; Bishop Wester was out of town.

St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall serves hot meals to approximately 700 people daily. Many of these clients are families with children.
