M. Antoinette DeVriendt Carter

SALT LAKE CITY — M. Antoinette DeVriendt Carter, 90, died March 8, 2013.

Carter was born to Paul F. DeVriendt and Anna Misslin DeVriendt on March 24, 1922 in Pocatello, Idaho. She attended St. Joseph Grade School, then went to Sacred Heart Academy for two years in Ogden, Utah and graduated from St. Theresa’s Academy in Boise, Idaho. She married Emery Carter at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Pocatello, Idaho on March 31, 1948.

Carter was involved in several volunteer endeavors over the years. She was a nurse’s aide during World War II and a member of the American Cancer Society’s "Reach to Recovery." She belonged to Our Lady of Lourdes Alter Society and later at Saint Vincent de Paul Church. She also was a member of Catholic Woman’s League, where she chaired various committees.

Carter is survived by son James (Jane); two grandchildren and a special friend, Robyn Remy.

Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Emery.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
