salt lake city — Marcella Vallejo Chapa, 90, passed away Nov. 26, 2011.

Chapa was born Oct. 7, 1921 to Felipa and Angel Vallejo in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She married Charles Puente Chapa in Santa Barbara on Oct. 21, 1940.

Chapa is survived by her children Lawrence (Madeleine), Tillie (Rich) Young, Richard (Joni), Mary (De) Davenport, Philip (Susan), Connie Bennett, Peter, Benny and Alfonso (Nubia); brothers Mingo and Lally (Juanita); and her many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Chapa is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sister Mary; and brother Tommy.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church.
