Marilyn Faye Barney Cheadle

DRAPER — Marilyn Faye Barney Cheadle, 75, died May 18.

Cheadle was born Aug. 30, 1932, to Irma and Arthur Barney in San Antonio, Texas. As a young girl, she survived polio, moved with family to several states including Florida, Colorado, and moved back to Texas, where she entered Amarillo Junior College at age 16. While attending a dance, she met her lifelong partner, Edward Clement Cheadle. Edward’s work brought them to Utah, where Marilyn raised six children, ran a business, and became a board member of the Utah Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. She became business partners for 31 year and lifelong friends with LauraLee Mock. In 2005 Cheadle received the Alzheimer’s Caregiver award for her work and dedication to the families and people afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.

She is survived by her sister, Joanne Carson; children, Edward and Carolyn Knight-Cheadle, Debbie and Carl Cheadle, Nancy and Pat Higginson of Lubbock, Texas, Arthur and Irsa Corzo-Cheadle, Finney Cheadle of Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren, Cheryl, Steven, Keith, Sarah, Kimberly, Ashley, Dustin, Nikki, Jenny, Christine, Roberto, Jason, Tami, Jon, Carla, Kevin, Jess, Rebecca, Matt, Jeremy, Roxy, Gabryelle, Arthur, Eryn, Jacob, Jess, April, Finney, Melissa, Michael, Rachael, Monica, Selena, Malinda, Breanna, Jacob; and 26 great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Church. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
