SALT LAKE CITY — Martha Cedelia Herrera, 76, passed away June 10, 2012.

Herrera was born July 4, 1935, to Alfredo and Usulita Vallejos in Turley, N.M.

She married her husband, Jim, in Elko, Nev. on June 1, 1965. Their marriage was later convalidated in the Catholic Church.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Magna, where she was active in the Spanish choir. She was Woman of the Year in 1991 and vice president of the Ladies Guild from 1991-1993. She taught confirmation classes for eight years and Holy Communion for six years.

Herrera is survived by her husband, Jim; seven children: Leroy (Brenda) Vallejos, Frieda Vallejos, Wayne (Lillian) Vallejos, Tony (Carmon) Herrera, Becky (Billy) Mondragon, Rachel (Bob) Horsley, and Tomacita Herrera; six siblings, Joe (Juanita) Vallejos, Esther (Ernaldo) Herrera, Teresa (Joe) Herrera, Johnny Vallejos, Alfred (Jane) Vallejos and Lloyd (Cordy) Vallejos; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Herrera was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Eddy Manzanares, Gilbert Vallejos, Douglas Vallejos and Ronald Vallejos; and sisters Mary Martinez and Janie Hazen.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
